Len Eshmont was born on August 26, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Southern California, where he played college football as a standout halfback. Eshmont was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1940 NFL Draft, marking the beginning of his professional football career.
During his time in the NFL, Eshmont played primarily for the Eagles and later for the Washington Redskins. He was known for his versatility and explosive speed, contributing significantly to his teams as both a runner and a receiver. Eshmont's standout season came in 1941 when he finished among the league leaders in rushing yards, showcasing his talent on the field.
