Leonard Thompson, born on July 28, 1952, is a former professional American football wide receiver who made significant contributions to the National Football League (NFL) during his career. He played college football at Florida State University, where he showcased his exceptional athletic abilities. Thompson was selected by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round of the 1975 NFL Draft, marking the beginning of his professional career.
Thompson played for the Detroit Lions from 1975 to 1981, where he became known for his speed and reliable hands. He recorded over 2,800 receiving yards and scored 13 touchdowns during his time with the team, contributing to the Lions’ offense in various capacities.
