Biography
Les Richter (October 6, 1930 – August 22, 2022) was a prominent American football player known for his successful career as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Born in Bakersfield, California, he played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned consensus All-American honors. Richter was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the second overall pick in the 1952 NFL Draft.
Richter had a distinguished 10-year career with the Rams from 1954 to 1963, during which he was recognized for his exceptional athleticism and leadership on the field. He was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times and was named an All-Pro player multiple times, showcasing his impact as a defensive stalwart. His versatility allowed him to also play on offense as a fullback, contributing to the team's overall success during his tenure.
