Biography
Leslie Frazier, born on April 3, 1959, in Columbus, Georgia, is a former professional American football player and coach. He played college football at Alcorn State University, where he was a standout defensive back. Frazier was selected in the 7th round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, where he played four seasons and was part of the team that won Super Bowl XX.
After his playing career, Frazier transitioned into coaching, beginning as a defensive backs coach at the University of Illinois before moving to the NFL. He gained prominence as the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings from 2007 to 2010, leading a defense that reached the NFC Championship Game in 2009. In 2011, he was named head coach of the Vikings, becoming one of the few African American head coaches in NFL history at that time.
Frazier's legacy extends beyond his coaching successes, as he is recognized for his contributions to player development and team culture. He has been influential in advocating for diversity in coaching positions within the NFL and has continued to impact the league through his various roles, demonstrating a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
