Biography
Máňa Týfová is a retired Czech professional tennis player renowned for her impressive achievements on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Born on January 15, 1968, in Prague, Týfová began playing tennis at an early age and quickly ascended the junior ranks in Czechoslovakia. She made her professional debut in 1983 and gained international attention with her powerful baseline game and competitive spirit.
Throughout her career, Týfová recorded numerous notable victories, including reaching the quarterfinals of the 1987 French Open, which marked her best Grand Slam performance. She also secured three WTA singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 18 in March 1988. Týfová was a pivotal member of the Czechoslovak Fed Cup team, helping them to secure a runner-up position in 1988.
After retiring from professional tennis in the mid-1990s, Týfová transitioned to coaching, imparting her knowledge and experience to emerging tennis talent in Europe.
