Marc Iavaroni, born on September 15, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a former professional basketball player known for his role as a power forward in the National Basketball Association (NBA) during the 1980s. Iavaroni played college basketball at the University of Virginia, where he gained recognition for his strong athleticism and foundational skills. He was selected as the 39th overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers.
Throughout his NBA career, which spanned five seasons from 1980 to 1985, Iavaroni played for the Portland Trail Blazers, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Phoenix Suns. His best statistical seasons came with the Spurs, where he averaged 5.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game during the 1982–83 season, showcasing his contributions to his team's frontcourt depth. Although his scoring output diminished in subsequent years, he remained a dependable role player who provided essential rebounding and defensive support.
After retiring as a player, Iavaroni transitioned into coaching and has held various assistant coaching positions in the NBA.
