Biography
Mario Cristobal, born on September 24, 1970, is a former American football offensive lineman and current college football coach. A standout athlete at the University of Miami, Cristobal played for the Miami Hurricanes from 1989 to 1992, earning All-American honors and contributing to the team’s national championship victory in 1991. His performance on the field led to his selection in the 1994 NFL Draft, where he was picked by the Denver Broncos.
After a brief professional playing career that included stints with the Broncos and the New Orleans Saints, Cristobal transitioned to coaching, leveraging his player experience. His coaching career began at his alma mater, Miami, before moving on to other positions, including assistant roles at various universities. In 2017, he became the head coach at the University of Oregon, where he led the program to significant success, including multiple bowl game appearances and a Pac-12 championship.
