Biography
Mark Dekanich, born on May 10, 1986, in CASTLEGAR, British Columbia, Canada, is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender known for his contributions in both the National Hockey League (NHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL). He gained prominence as a standout player during his college career at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he earned recognition for his exceptional skills and performance. Dekanich was selected by the Nashville Predators in the fifth round, 146th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Dekanich began his professional career in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals and soon established himself as a reliable goaltender, earning accolades for his performances. In the 2009–10 season, he had a career year, leading the Admirals to a playoff berth and finishing the season with a notable save percentage. His success led to a call-up to the NHL, making his debut with the Predators in 2011 and later spending time with the Columbus Blue Jackets organization.
