Markus Niemeläinen, born on June 8, 1998, in Seinäjoki, Finland, is a professional ice hockey defenseman known for his physical play and strong two-way game. He began his career in junior hockey, playing for the Seinäjoen Sudet, before moving on to the Finnish junior leagues and establishing himself as a notable prospect. Niemeläinen's performance in junior leagues earned him a spot in the NHL Draft, where he was selected in the fourth round by the Edmonton Oilers in 2016.
