Biography
Martin Gernát, born on April 11, 1993, in Trenčín, Slovakia, is a professional ice hockey defenseman known for his versatility and strong two-way game. He began his career in the Slovak leagues before being drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft as the 122nd overall pick. Gernát’s early development came through various junior teams in Slovakia, where he showcased his potential and skill on the ice.
Gernát transitioned to North American hockey in the 2012-2013 season, playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Edmonton Oil Kings. Over the course of his junior career, he contributed significantly to the team's success, culminating in winning the WHL Championship in 2014.
