Martin Hanzal, born on February 20, 1987, in Pisek, Czech Republic, is a retired professional ice hockey player known for his versatile playing style and robust physical presence on the ice. Hanzal began his professional career in the Czech leagues before being drafted by the Arizona Coyotes as the 17th overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut on October 6, 2007, and quickly established himself as a key player for the Coyotes.
