Mary Joe Fernández, born on August 19, 1971, in New York City, is a retired American professional tennis player known for her significant achievements on the WTA Tour. She turned professional in 1982 and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 in 1990. Throughout her career, Fernández won a total of seven WTA singles titles and 11 doubles titles, showcasing her versatility on both singles and doubles courts.
Fernández represented the United States in multiple international competitions, most notably in the Fed Cup and the Olympics.
