Matt Birk, born on July 23, 1976, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a former professional American football player who prominently played as a center in the National Football League (NFL). He attended the University of Harvard, where he earned a degree in Human Evolutionary Biology and was a standout player for the Harvard Crimson football team. Birk was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the league.
During his tenure with the Vikings from 1998 to 2008, Birk earned six Pro Bowl selections and was named an All-Pro in 2003.
