Biography
Matt Herr, born on May 26, 1976, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is a former professional ice hockey player from the United States. He played as a forward and had a notable collegiate career at the University of Michigan, where he was instrumental in leading the Wolverines to an NCAA Championship in 1996. Herr was drafted in the second round, 55th overall, by the Washington Capitals in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
Throughout his career, Herr played in the National Hockey League (NHL) primarily with the Washington Capitals and had stints with the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Islanders. Though his time in the NHL was relatively brief, he also had a significant presence in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he contributed to teams like the Portland Pirates and the Hershey Bears, earning respect for his versatility and work ethic on the ice.
