Michael Leighton is a former professional ice hockey goaltender from Canada, born on May 19, 1981, in Petrolia, Ontario. He was selected in the sixth round, 165th overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Over his career, Leighton played for multiple NHL teams, including the Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Leighton's most notable achievement came during the 2009-2010 NHL season when he played a critical role in the Philadelphia Flyers' run to the Stanley Cup Finals. He was instrumental in net, posting a playoff shutout against the Montreal Canadiens, becoming the first goaltender to achieve this feat for the Flyers in the process.
