Biography
Michael Mantenuto was an American ice hockey player born on May 13, 1981, in Hollywood, California. He played as a defenseman and had a notable collegiate career at the University of Maine, where he contributed significantly to the team reaching the Frozen Four in 2002. Mantenuto was recognized for his defensive skills and leadership on the ice, which earned him a spot on the All-America first team in 2004.
After college, Mantenuto was signed by the Washington Capitals and played primarily in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Hershey Bears. Throughout his professional career, he also spent time in various minor league teams, including the ECHL and the United Hockey League (UHL). While he never made a significant impact in the NHL, Mantenuto continued to be involved in the sport through coaching and other roles after retiring from playing.
In addition to his hockey career, Mantenuto ventured into acting, appearing in the 2006 film “Miracle,” which depicted the 1980 United States Olympic hockey team.
