Born in 1975 in Chicago, Illinois, Wiles honed his skills at Lincoln High School, where he garnered attention for his scoring ability and court vision. He went on to play college basketball at the University of North Carolina, where he led the Tar Heels to a Final Four appearance in 1997.
Wiles was selected in the second round of the 1998 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, marking the beginning of his professional career.
