Mike Eruzione, born on October 25, 1954, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, is a former American ice hockey player best known for his pivotal role in the 1980 Winter Olympics. As captain of the United States men's ice hockey team, Eruzione scored the game-winning goal against the Soviet Union in the semifinals, a match famously referred to as the "Miracle on Ice." His collegiate career at Boston University further established his reputation, where he led the Terriers to a national championship in 1978.
