Mike Gartner, born on October 29, 1959, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is a former professional ice hockey player celebrated for his exceptional scoring ability and speed. Gartner was selected fourth overall in the 1979 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals, marking the beginning of a prolific career that would span 19 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL).
