Biography
Mike McCormack (born June 21, 1930) was a prominent American football offensive tackle who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles. After excelling at the University of Southern California, McCormack was selected by the Colts in the 1953 NFL Draft. Over his 12-year career, he became known for his exceptional blocking skills and durability, earning multiple Pro Bowl selections.
During his tenure with the Colts from 1953 to 1960, McCormack contributed to the team's emergence as a competitive force in the NFL, playing a crucial role in their offense. He later joined the Philadelphia Eagles from 1961 to 1964, where his veteran leadership and experience helped mentor younger players in the league. McCormack’s contributions were recognized when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1984, solidifying his status as one of the game’s greats.
After retiring from professional football, McCormack transitioned into a successful coaching career, serving as an assistant and head coach for various teams, including the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Jets.
