Mike Modano, born on June 7, 1970, in Livonia, Michigan, is a retired American ice hockey player widely regarded as one of the greatest American-born players in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected first overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, quickly establishing himself as a talented center known for his exceptional speed, skill, and scoring ability. Modano spent significant portions of his career with the North Stars and the Dallas Stars, where he became the franchise's all-time leading scorer.
