Mike Sgroi, born on August 14, 1978, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, is a former professional ice hockey player known for his role as a forward. He played junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Sarnia Sting, where he showcased his scoring ability and physical play. Sgroi was selected in the 2nd round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders but chose to pursue an NCAA career at the University of Michigan.
Sgroi began his professional career in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and later played in the American Hockey League (AHL). He gained a reputation as a tough enforcer, earning a significant number of penalty minutes throughout his career.
