Mitch Kupchak, born on May 24, 1954, in New York City, is a former professional basketball player and current executive in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A standout athlete at the University of North Carolina, Kupchak was selected by the Washington Bullets as the 13th overall pick in the 1976 NBA Draft. He played primarily as a power forward and center throughout his six-season career in the NBA.
During his tenure in the league, Kupchak averaged 14.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game, with notable performances in the late 1970s. In the 1977-78 season, he achieved his career-high scoring average of 15.9 points per game while also contributing defensively with nearly 7 rebounds per game.
