Mohinder Amarnath, born on September 24, 1950, in Patiala, India, is a former Indian cricketer renowned for his contributions to the national team during the late 1970s and 1980s. A right-handed batsman and medium-pace bowler, Amarnath made his Test debut in 1969 and went on to become a key player for India in both Test and One Day International (ODI) formats. He is particularly celebrated for his crucial performances in India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory.
Throughout his career, Amarnath played 69 Test matches, scoring 4,378 runs, which included 11 centuries and 24 half-centuries. In ODIs, he appeared in 85 matches, amassing 1,988 runs and playing pivotal roles in numerous victories. His standout performances, especially in the 1983 World Cup, where he was named Man of the Match in both the semifinal and the final, solidified his status as one of India's cricketing legends.
