Nate Northington, born on January 1, 1947, is a former professional American football player known for his pioneering role as one of the first African American players in the National Football League (NFL). Northington played college football at the University of Kentucky, where he showcased exceptional athletic skills as a quarterback and defensive back. He was drafted in the 10th round of the 1968 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.
Throughout his NFL career, Northington played primarily as a cornerback, spending time with the Los Angeles Rams and the Denver Broncos.
