Nevil Shed, born on April 26, 1943, is a former American basketball player recognized for his contributions to the sport during the 1960s and 1970s. He played college basketball for the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Miners, where he gained prominence as a skilled shooting guard. Shed was a key member of the UTEP team that won the 1966 NCAA Championship, marking a significant moment in the history of college basketball as they became the first all-Black starting lineup to win the title.
Following his successful college career, Shed was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the 1966 NBA Draft. He played professionally in various leagues, including the National Basketball Association (NBA), American Basketball Association (ABA), and the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Throughout his career, Shed was known for his scoring ability and tactical play, making meaningful contributions to his teams.
