Nikola Pilić, born on August 27, 1939, in Split, Croatia, is a former professional tennis player and renowned tennis coach. He began his professional career in the 1960s and quickly established himself as one of the leading players of his time, known for his powerful baseline game and tactical prowess. Pilić achieved significant milestones in his career, including reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 1960 and securing the singles title at the 1967 French Championships.
Throughout his career, Pilić won a total of 17 ATP titles, including five singles titles and twelve doubles titles. He was a key member of the Yugoslav Davis Cup team, contributing to their runner-up finishes in 1963 and 1964. Pilić also enjoyed success on the Grand Prix circuit, and his performance in various international competitions solidified his reputation as a formidable competitor during the golden age of tennis.
