Biography
Oleksandr Gvozdyk, born on April 15, 1987, in Kharkiv, Ukraine, is a former professional boxer who competed in the light heavyweight division. Gvozdyk began his boxing career in the amateur ranks, where he achieved notable success, including winning a bronze medal at the 2011 AIBA World Boxing Championships. He turned professional in 2014 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning a reputation for his technical skills and knockout power.
In 2018, Gvozdyk captured the WBC light heavyweight title by defeating Adonis Stevenson, marking a significant milestone in his career. He successfully defended his title against Doudou Ngumbu in March 2019 and secured a unification bout with IBF champion Artur Beterbiev later that year. Despite his valiant effort, Gvozdyk was defeated by Beterbiev in October 2019, which marked the end of his championship reign.
