Biography
Oskar Osala, born on December 26, 1987, in Lappeenranta, Finland, is a former professional ice hockey player known for his positional play as a right winger. He began his career in Finland’s junior leagues before making his professional debut in the Finnish Liiga with Lappeenrannan SaiPa during the 2005-2006 season. Osala was recognized for his offensive skills and potential, which led him to the North American leagues.
In 2006, Osala was drafted 97th overall by the Dallas Stars in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft. He spent several seasons developing in the American Hockey League (AHL), primarily with the Iowa Stars and the Texas Stars. His perseverance paid off when he made his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars during the 2008-2009 season, contributing to the team’s efforts on the ice before returning to play in Europe.
Osala eventually transitioned back to Finland, competing in the Liiga and playing for teams such as Ilves and JYP, where he concluded his professional career.
