Biography
Paul Dietzel (September 5, 1924 – September 7, 2021) was a notable American football player and coach, primarily recognized for his time as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he led the team to a national championship in 1958. Dietzel was selected in the 13th round of the 1945 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.
In the NFL, Dietzel played for the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams during the late 1940s and early 1950s. His professional career was marked by a combination of strong passing abilities and leadership skills, which contributed to the teams' efforts during his tenure. After his playing days, he transitioned into coaching, famously leading the LSU Tigers to another national championship in 1969.
