Biography
Percy Montgomery, born on March 15, 1974, in Windhoek, Namibia, is a retired Rugby Union athlete known for his distinguished career as a fullback. He began his professional journey with the Namibian national team, where he made significant contributions and showcased his talent on the international stage from 1994. Montgomery subsequently gained prominence playing for South African clubs, notably the Western Province and the Stormers in Super Rugby.
Montgomery's international career is marked by his participation in three Rugby World Cups with the South African national team in 1999, 2003, and 2007. He earned a total of 102 caps for South Africa, becoming the first Springbok to score over 1,000 Test points. His kicking accuracy and playmaking abilities were instrumental in South Africa's success, including winning the Rugby World Cup in 2007.
