Pete Layden (December 30, 1919 – November 12, 2013) was a professional American football player who made significant contributions to the National Football League (NFL) as a halfback and punter. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, he demonstrated exceptional athletic ability during his college years at the University of Detroit, where he excelled on the football field. Layden was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 1942 NFL Draft, thus beginning a notable professional career in football.
Layden played for the Chicago Bears from 1942 to 1945, and during his time with the team, he was known for his versatility on the field, contributing both offensively and as a punter.
