Peter Chiarelli, born on August 5, 1964, in Ottawa, Canada, is a former professional ice hockey player and notable NHL executive. Chiarelli played as a center, primarily for the University of Massachusetts Amherst team during his collegiate career before being drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Although he spent a few seasons in the minor leagues, he did not achieve significant success as a player, ultimately transitioning to a management role in hockey.
After retiring from playing, Chiarelli began to build a career in hockey management, serving in various capacities before rising to prominence as the General Manager of the Boston Bruins.
