Petr Klíma, born on December 23, 1964, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, is a former professional ice hockey player recognized for his significant contributions to the sport during the late 20th century. Klíma began his career in the Czechoslovak Extraliga, playing for HC Plzeň before transitioning to the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected 90th overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.
Klíma is best known for his memorable performance with the Detroit Red Wings, where he played a pivotal role in the team's success during the early 1990s. His most notable achievement came during the 1997 Stanley Cup playoffs, where he scored the dramatic goal that clinched the championship for the Red Wings, marking the franchise's first Cup victory in 42 years.
