Phil Hoagland is a retired American professional basketball player known for his contributions to the sport during the 1970s. Born in 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, Hoagland played college basketball at the University of Minnesota, where he showcased his exceptional skills as a forward. After going undrafted in 1973, he signed with the American Basketball Association (ABA) and began his professional career with the Minnesota Pipers.

During his time in the ABA, Hoagland became known for his scoring ability and versatility on the court. He had standout seasons with the Pipers and later the Utah Stars, where he helped the team reach the playoffs.
