Biography

Radivoj Korać (November 5, 1938 – October 21, 1969) was a prominent Yugoslav basketball player known for his exceptional scoring ability and versatility on the court. Born in the town of Vojvodina in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Korać quickly made a name for himself in the early 1950s while playing for the partisan team KK Vojvodina and later joining the renowned club Partizan Belgrade. His talent helped elevate Yugoslav basketball and contributed to the growth of the sport in the region.

Korać achieved significant success during his competitive career, especially in the national and international arena. He played a key role in the Yugoslav national team, leading them to a gold medal at the 1970 FIBA World Championship and securing several medals in European championships during the 1960s. Moreover, he was instrumental in the success of BC Partizan Belgrade, where he consistently ranked among the top scorers in the league.

Tragically, Korać's life was cut short in a car accident in 1969 at the age of 30. Despite his brief career, Korać left an indelible mark on basketball and is remembered as one of the sport's early greats. He was posthumously inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2007, honoring his legacy as a pioneer of Yugoslav basketball and inspiring future generations of athletes in the region.
