A standout player at the University of Connecticut, Lobo helped lead the Huskies to their first NCAA championship in 1995, earning the Naismith College Player of the Year award that same year. Her college success paved the way for her selection as the first overall pick in the inaugural 1997 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty.
