Biography

Reggie Harding was an American professional basketball player born on May 4, 1942. Known for his imposing 6-foot-10 stature and strong rebounding ability, Harding made a significant impact in the National Basketball Association (NBA) during the 1960s. He played the center position and was recognized for his defensive skills and shot-blocking prowess.

Harding began his NBA career with the Detroit Pistons in 1962 after being drafted in the fourth round of the 1962 draft. Over the course of his career, he displayed consistent performance during the early seasons, averaging 11 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in the 1963-64 season, and improving his output to 12 points and 11.6 rebounds per game in the 1964-65 season. However, his statistics saw a decline in the latter part of his career, with averages dropping to 5.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in the 1966-67 season.

Despite the ups and downs of his career, Reggie Harding is remembered for being one of the early players to bring attention to the role of a physically dominant big man in the NBA. His contributions to the game paved the way for future generations of centers. Harding's legacy is marked not only by his on-court performance but also by the struggles he faced off the court, which ultimately overshadowed his professional achievements.
