Reggie Nelson, born on September 21, 1983, in Melbourne, Florida, is a former professional American football safety known for his impact in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Florida, where he was a key member of the Gators’ defense and contributed to the team's success in winning the 2006 BCS National Championship. His exceptional performance in college earned him recognition as a first-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.
Selected 21st overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Nelson quickly established himself as a reliable safety, showcasing his playmaking ability and knack for intercepting passes. He spent four seasons with the Jaguars before being traded to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010, where he continued to excel, making significant contributions to the team's defensive unit, which included earning Pro Bowl selections in 2015 and 2016. His leadership and experience were instrumental in helping to revitalize the Bengals’ secondary.
