Biography
Rich Sutter, born on December 2, 1963, in Viking, Alberta, Canada, is a retired professional ice hockey forward known for his physical style of play and defensive acumen. Drafted 17th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft, Sutter began his NHL career in the 1983-84 season and went on to play 11 seasons in the league, representing teams such as the New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Throughout his career, Sutter was recognized for his versatility and work ethic, contributing not only offensively but also adding significant defensive value to his teams. He achieved notable success during his tenure with the St. Louis Blues, where he became a fan favorite and played a role in the team's competitive playoff runs in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In total, he accrued 162 goals and 221 assists over 700 regular-season games while also participating in several playoff campaigns.
