Biography
Richard Thayer is a retired American ice hockey player known for his impactful career in both collegiate and professional hockey. Born in 1985 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Thayer showcased his talent at a young age, leading his high school team to a state championship and earning All-State honors. He subsequently played college hockey at the University of Minnesota, where he was instrumental in leading the team to a NCAA championship in 2006.
Following his collegiate success, Thayer was drafted in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He made his professional debut in the American Hockey League (AHL) and later had a successful stint in several international leagues, including a prominent role in Finland's Liiga and the KHL in Russia.
