Risto Kankaanperä, born on March 8, 1958, in Akaa, Finland, is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey defenseman renowned for his strong defensive skills and physical style of play. He began his career in the Finnish SM-liiga, where he quickly established himself as a formidable presence on the ice. Kankaanperä's exceptional performances earned him recognition, leading to his selection for the Finnish national team.
