Biography
Rémi Garde, born on April 3, 1966, in L'Arbresle, France, is a former professional footballer and current football manager. Primarily a midfielder, he began his playing career at Lyon, where he made his debut in 1983 and spent nearly a decade, winning the Ligue 1 title in 1989. Garde later played for Strasbourg and ended his playing career at the English club Aston Villa in 1998, having made significant contributions to each team.
Upon retiring as a player, Garde transitioned into management, taking one of his first roles as a coach for Lyon's youth team. He returned to Lyon in 2011, taking charge of the first team and leading them to a commendable fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 during his tenure. In 2015, he was appointed manager of Aston Villa, where he faced challenges, ultimately being replaced mid-season.
