Rob Sainsbury (January 5, 1916 – December 27, 1993) was an Australian rules footballer known for his prominent career in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He played as a wingman and was noted for his exceptional speed and agility on the field. Sainsbury began his VFL career with the Melbourne Football Club, where he debuted in 1936 and quickly established himself as a key player.
Throughout his career, Sainsbury was integral to Melbourne’s success during the late 1930s and early 1940s. He was part of the team that won the premiership in 1939 and contributed significantly to their back-to-back victories in 1940 and 1941. Sainsbury’s performance on the field earned him accolades, securing a place in the league's best players list multiple times and solidifying his reputation among the club's greats.
After retiring from football in 1942, Sainsbury's legacy continued to influence the sport and the Melbourne Football Club.
