Robert Mayer is a professional ice hockey goaltender from the Czech Republic, born on October 9, 1989. Mayer began his junior career with HC Plzeň 1929 and quickly established himself as a promising talent, gaining attention for his strong performances in the Czech junior leagues. He was drafted in the fifth round, 138th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Mayer's professional career includes stints in the American Hockey League (AHL) and various European leagues. He played for the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, before returning to Europe where he continued to demonstrate his skills with teams such as HC Olomouc and HC Kometa Brno.
