Biography
Robert Wangila, born on September 3, 1967, in Kenya, was a prominent amateur boxer who gained international recognition for his achievements in the sport. He competed in the welterweight division and notably represented Kenya at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, where he won the gold medal, becoming the first Kenyan athlete to achieve this feat in boxing. Wangila's victory in the Olympics significantly elevated the profile of Kenyan boxing on the global stage.
