Roman Hamrlík, born on April 12, 1974, in Zlin, Czech Republic, is a retired professional ice hockey defenseman. He was selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first Czech player to be taken first overall. Over his 22-year NHL career, Hamrlík established himself as a reliable defenseman known for his strong skating, defensive skills, and ability to contribute offensively.
Throughout his career, Hamrlík played for several NHL teams, including the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and the Washington Capitals.
