Roop Singh, born on May 2, 1916, in Gwalior, India, was a prominent cricketer known for his left-arm fast bowling and lower-order batting. He made his first-class debut in 1935 and went on to represent the Madhya Pradesh team for several years. Singh was part of the Indian national team that participated in the historic 1932 Test series against England, marking India's inaugural Test match.

Singh's career spanned over a decade, during which he played a total of three Test matches, taking nine wickets with an average of 20.44. His most notable performance came during the 1936 season when he took five wickets for 73 runs against the English team, demonstrating his ability to challenge top batsmen of the era. Singh was known for his speed and bowling accuracy, which set him apart in the domestic circuit and contributed to the development of cricket in central India.

Following his retirement from competitive cricket, Roop Singh's legacy continued through his contributions to coaching and the promotion of the sport at grassroots levels. His dedication to cricket, both on and off the field, helped inspire a new generation of players in Madhya Pradesh. Singh passed away on March 22, 2001, but remains an important figure in the history of Indian cricket.
