Biography
Rumesh Ratnayake, born on January 2, 1964, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is a former international cricketer recognized for his accomplishments as a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a lower-order batsman. He made his Test debut for the Sri Lankan national team on February 12, 1982, against England, and quickly became known for his ability to generate pace and swing. Over the course of his career, Ratnayake represented Sri Lanka in 18 Test matches and 70 One Day Internationals (ODIs) until his retirement from international cricket in 1996.
Throughout his career, Ratnayake achieved notable milestones, including a memorable 5-wicket haul against India in 1986, which showcased his talent on the international stage. Batting down the order, he contributed crucial runs, and his all-round capabilities were instrumental in several matches.
