Russ Grimm, born on May 2, 1959, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, is a former professional American football player renowned for his career as a center and guard in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and was selected by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 1981 NFL Draft. Grimm quickly established himself as a key member of the team's offensive line, known as "The Hogs," which became famous for its effectiveness in both protecting quarterbacks and creating lanes for running backs.
During his 11-year playing career with the Redskins from 1981 to 1991, Grimm was selected to four Pro Bowl teams and earned recognition as a First Team All-Pro three times. He was an essential part of the Redskins' success, contributing to their victories in Super Bowl XVII, Super Bowl XXII, and Super Bowl XXVI. After retiring from professional play, Grimm transitioned to coaching, serving in various roles in the NFL, including as an offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals.
